We all know that 2008 was a hugely terrible year for companies and other kinds of small businesses, 2008 was the year that the credit crunch swung into full effect. The sheer pain of the credit crunch was revealed when companies started going bust left. right and centre. Below is a list of some of the companies that just did not make it through the difficult times and ended up either fully or partially collapsing.
Woolworths - The traditional British store, went into administration after a major slump and thousands of people lost their jobs.
MFI - The kitchen and bedroom specialists shut down all 111 of there stores.
Officers Club - The store was an elegant clothing unit, but due to a fall in sales the inevitable happened.
Whittard of Chelsea - Managed to be sold to a private equity firm, after falling into administration.
Zavvi - The store heavily relied on fallen Woolworths and has since followed in there footsteps
Olan Mills - The photography firm just didn't have the snap to make it through the economic |

There was a time when anything that had been organized by the company you work for was about as welcome as toothache. The thought of having to spend time with the boss and all your work mates and be on your best behavior while you're at it was not a pleasant one. Corporate events have for a long time had a bad press with people either looking at them as a waste of time or saying they are window dressing to hide deeper problems.
It's true that years ago most corporate events were things that only benefitted a select few and consisted of men in suits sitting around congratulating each other, but all that has changed. In today's business world the importance of team building, rewarding and recognition have all contributed to a greater importance being given to corporate events. The result is that employees and employers alike now share in the benefits that can be achieved through all manner of corporate events.
Conferences - The traditional or most recognizable corporate event is probably the conference. They can involve small groups of people |

If everybody knows that article marketing, (the writing and submitting of articles to article repositories), is a sure fire winner for an online business then how come hardly anybody is doing it? Or is it more likely they are just not doing it right? Article marketing is not just about knocking out a few articles and waiting for the cash to roll in. Like everything else it takes planning and commitment. TIP: We all like spending money on the latest product but let's not continually fool ourselves that the next $97 we spend is definitely going to make us rich. It wont happen. In all honesty if you buy your domain name and make sure you have great hosting that's all you really need to spend at the outset. There is some initial leg work to do such as finding your niche, choosing a domain name, setting up a website to build your list, choosing how you are going to monetize your site to name a few tasks. TIP: Set up your website initially to give people some quality freebies. Let me just repeat the |

Do you feel you have clarity about what's most important to you? Most people don't - often because they just don't spend time thinking about what matters most. Here is a simple exercise to get you started on the path to running your business and living your life focused on your top priorities.
On a blank piece of paper, write down everything you most want for yourself from your life - the things you say are most important to you. Some examples would be close family relationships, health and well-being, meaningful work, long term friendships, supportive community, a successful business, creative pursuits, travel and adventure, financial freedom, spiritual life, beautiful home environment, recreation and fun, community service, or personal growth. Add your own examples to this list.
Choose five of the most significant of these items, and list them in order of what's most important to you. Then, next to each item on the right hand side, put a number on a scale of zero to five that represents the priority you have given this item in the past three |

Not knowing what business to start or not knowing how to start are the typical reasons that keep people from starting a home business.
First you have to get some ideas of what kind of business you can start and what home businesses are suitable for you.
Here's some questions that will help you find out what business is right for you:
* What skills, education and experience do you have?
* What do you like doing?
* What kind of knowledge do you have?
* What kind of things are you good at?
Before deciding on a type of business, analyze your skills, experience, interests, and personality. Make a list. Also write down your education, training, work experience, volunteer experience, interests, hobbies and anything else you know.

Most businesses may know where they want to go but very few would know how to get there. This is where on-demand solution for business use comes in. With a clear vision, commitment, hard work and a reliable provider of on-demand software solutions and services, any business would find itself on the road to achieving defined business goals.
The roadmap to success starts with the assessment of needs followed by the use of the right Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to ensure delivery of return on investment while enabling the business to keep up with future needs. Software providers should have a thorough understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) in the same manner that they possess expertise in eBusiness software. This is to enable them to know what business process to adjust and recommend a new approach that can accelerate progress when combined with the suitable software capabilities.
CRM solutions are only able to provide results when employees accept and use them. Personnel may not easily adapt software especially if it puts |

Looking for a suitable home business opportunity? If you are opportunistic enough to even think about doing this then you probably have the determination to succeed. While your aptitudes and skills are the important factors, without strength of will you are dead in the water. Motivation and determination is more than half the battle. Everyone has at least one thing they are good at and can usually parlay that into a source of income. Therefore it stands to reason that skill is not the only factor in determining who will be a success.
You can spend money to start an at home business, but if you don't want to you don't have to. Having a dream and believing in yourself is half the battle in this endeavor. If you really want to start a home business and you don't have a lot of capital to work with then you will need to be resourceful and find a way to do this with what you have available to you. Many home based businesses can be started with little to no start up costs. If you |

The post Christmas blues have been a dark shade of indigo this year. As recession hits, businesses collapse and jobs are lost, it seems like our fast paced high maintenance lifestyles are going to be difficult to fund in the future. It isn't all doom and gloom however; there are in fact businesses that are seeing a boost in profits and an increase in revenue. The latest figures from the Q4 survey are a sneaky indicator of just how this recession is going to affect our lifestyle. It seems that rather than going without, the average consumer is more likely to refine their desires and spend their money wisely on the right products. We take a look at which businesses are coming out on top, and which appear to be on the slippery slope of consumer rejection.
One of the first things that gets kicked into touch as the purse strings tighten is frivolous spending on non-essential items. Nokia saw a fall in phone sales as customers were more than happy to stick with their current gadgetry, and online |

Many years ago, a television commercial featured people proudly displaying their black eyes and proclaiming,I would rather fight than switch. They were referring to their loyalty to a particular company brand.
It appears that many companies have lost sight of the importance of customer loyalty and that it is built by offering the best possible customer service. Two examples are sighted below.
The following horrendous customer service story was recently featured in Money Magazine:
A customer purchased what he thought was a disc storage drive. Upon opening the box at home, he instead found a bag of beans. He returned the box to the chain store and asked for another box containing a new disc storage drive which he thought he had purchased.
The Complaints Rep replied the exchange is the responsibility of the manufacturer. The customer wrote a letter to the manufacturer describing the circumstances that took place. The manufacturer responded that the product exchange would be the responsibility of the store.
This left the customer in |

Do you want to know how to make more gigs? Well it is not as easy as you think it is but all it takes is determination and the right planning and decision. You should as well consider that your every performance must have the power to arouse the interest of the general public.
If the public loves you, then you are now sure that you have the chances in meeting success in the near future. if you are asking how to make more gigs in less than a month, you should know what standing out means. If you stand out then you are unique to almost all performers - that would definitely should have brought out the best in you.
Aside from delivering your performance accordingly on stage people would like to experience something new and you should have a creative mind in doing this. The crowd love new things new approaches and new faces all the time, they treat old fashioned as the forgotten so we don't want to be like that.
As a musician you should be radically |

Without any doubt Article Submission is an effective way to increase traffic to your website. I have been personally using this effective method for the last 2 Years and have seen some exceptional results as far as my website traffic is concerned.
I understand most of you might say it is a slow process and can get results only after many weeks. However I would like to say to my dear friends that patience holds the key to make any business successful. It might be boring to submit articles day in and out to Article Directories. However, if youre looking for rapid sales of your products or services its high time to start submitting your articles to article directories.
Easy Mantra to Success
If you make an effort to write an article and then submit to multiple article directories every week you can surely see results. I would recommend writing at least one article and submitting to at least 500 high quality article directories every week.

In the earliest stages of your business, you will enjoy the task of designing your own personalized business cards. Although this will likely be a relief from the endless other office tasks involved, do not take it lightly. This will be the first impression your potential clients will get of your business. You don't want to make the mistake of projecting the wrong image. On that note, I have compiled a short list of things to avoid when designing your business card.
1. Don't make your business card the wrong size: In this case, size does matter. There have been too many occasions when a company's business card simply did not fit in my wallet because it was a millimeter too long. The most common size is 3.5 by 2 inches. Use it.
2. Don't make your business card too busy: Regardless if you are using a color card, or a black and white card, it is important not to overload your business card. Keep it on the simple side. If there are two partners to one company, do not put |

Making money on the internet is a dream for many people, a pipe dream to the naysayers, nonetheless an aspiration by many. While there are a significant handful of individuals who spread doom and gloom about online money-making opportunities, most likely because they, themselves, have been burned by an online scam or two -- this does not take away from the truth of the matter. The truth is this -- you can make cash online, and there are opportunities available for anybody, regardless of their age or current experience level.
The real problem that people, much like yourself, run into is that they know nothing about the online landscape. Even if they understand the dynamics of business, they dont really get the money-making opportunities that abound online, if for no other reason than the definition of an online business may not fit into the nice, neat, box that brick-and-mortar businesses oftentimes fall into.
Just like the offline world, there are plethoras of ways to make cash online, even without a lot of experience. For instance, people get paid |

Tired of Being Scammed by Internet GURUs Who Promise to Reveal ALL?
I'm concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.
To make money online many people jump right in before they are properly prepared. You know that there are prerequisites, things you must learn, before you can be successful, you don't just jump right in unprepared.
The very first thing you need to know is that the GURUs are not going to reveal their secrets. Period. If they did, it would increase their competition several million fold.
The same applies to the Home Based Business industry even though there are unsavory people out there who'd have you believe it's a "Walk in the Park" and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it, but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing work for you.
Most people WILL NOT MAKE A DIME ONLINE and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make |

Millions of people, from across the globe, dream of working at home everyday. Who really wants to commute to some pathetic job for measly chump change anyway? No matter what our job status is or our backgrounds, we all seem to strive for something better for our lives. And the answer sure does seem like WORKING AT HOME! Just imagine what life would be like if you did not have to wake up in the morning and spend the day doing something you did not like, for someone you do not like... and instead, you did anything your little heart desired. Now ask yourself How would I feel if I was able to work at home, be my own boss and answer to me?
Let me answer that simple question for u... You are going to feel incredible. Life is so much easier when you dont have to wake up and go to work everyday. This is assuming that you didnt like your job to begin with. If you are already having the time of your life each day, at your job, and |

Do you have your own web site? If you have, you may know how important it is to promote your web site in order to generate more traffic and potential clients. You may use your web site, or weblog, for personal reasons or for some kind of online service. In both cases you would not mind receiving more attention and visitors to your online web site.
There are many ways in which you may attempt to promote your web site or service. Some of these ways may cost you a fortune while others are cheaper or even largely free. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you do not. However, most free web site promotion services are fairly limited. In that case you really get what you pay, or not pay, to receive in terms of traffic.
The first way in which you may try to promote your web site is to get it indexed by search engines. Search engine robots will eventually index some of your web site's pages, but this may take a couple of months. Even then your |

All you have to do with dropshipping is to advertise a product that you do not currently possess and take orders for the same from the public. Once you have enough orders you pass it on to the wholesaler who then dispatches the goods to the customers. Doing this you can easily pocket the difference between the wholesale price and the retail price. It is seriously as simple as it sounds! You can find a lot of opportunity to venture in to this business through the internet; in fact you will be able to find a whole list of suppliers who are ready to supply goods in their country. Due to the simplicity and lack of risk in this business there are loads of people who are currently pursuing it, this leaves little scope for a new comer to find out a product that he can profitably sell. It becomes more difficult if you have to pay international shipping costs on the goods that you choose to sell.
To be able to find a niche for yourself in this game you have to |

The importance of having a good business plan can never be underestimated. In some sense it truly reflects your own goals and objectives as the owner of the business. It gives an impression of a very well researched and well planned business. The business plan represents the aims and ambitions that your business would seek to achieve over a stipulated period of time. Therefore, it is very important that you draw up an impressive business plan, no matter how big or how small your business may be.
These are some of the things you may want to include in your business plan. Feel free to add whatever else you may wish to:
goals of the company
the time period over which these goals will be met with
the nature of the product or services that your business will offer
the segment of the population whom these products and services will benefit
any other data that you find will attract clients, customers and employees
While you write out your business plan, be positive in your outlook. It is important to convey to you clients and customers and |

Internet marketing or online business is considered to be a very effective tool to earn money online. People get attracted to it when they come to know of the opportunities it provides to the Internet users. They are usually aware of the things they can do to earn money online, but like any other business, working online has its own donts as well. One should also be well aware of these donts even before putting hands into it so that you dont regret later on. Following are some donts that need to be avoided in order to work effectively online:
DONT take it easy:
Usually when people start working online, they have a very casual attitude towards working from home. They feel they can work any time they want & the way they like. Although its true, you must take it very seriously & allot fixed days & working hours to make him/herself organized.
DONT leave your work in the middle:
Dont work with a foamy passion that settles down very quickly. The passion with which you started your work should |

If you're one of the ones who has seen a drop in your income due to the economy, or perhaps the rising price of everything from gas to groceries has your budget strapped, then earning money online from home may be appealing to you.
In today's tough economic times, more and more families are turning to the Internet to earn money online. However, many of these families are confused at all the make money opportunities they find. They're not sure where to start and what to avoid.
Here are a few tips to start earning money online.
First, explore earning money online by making a list of the things you like to do or have in-depth knowledge of. Making money with something you like or know about is a lot easier than trying to do it on a subject you hate or have little knowledge of.
Next, spend some time researching your list of subjects online. If it's baking, try seeing how keywords such as baking cookies, baking a Turkey, baking bread, etc rank in the search engines. The last |
